Starting a petition to legalize and regulate online poker in Maine.
Hey fish. So as all of you know, online poker is only legal in a handful of states. Although it’s not technically illegal in Maine as the laws are pretty vague, it’s still not regulated. Technically any machine where a player can risk “something of value” is considered a gambling device and this includes computers. For live games, there’s is currently only one poker room in Maine at the Hollywood Casino in Bangor, which is about 2hrs from me. However, home games played with real cash is legal as long as everyone participating is of legal gambling age and the person running the game isn’t taking a rake or the like. So, as a college student, I don’t have time to be traveling to Bangor or down south to play games, I’d rather play online from the comfort of my home. So, with elections and ballot questions coming up, I’ve decided to start a petition to legalize and regulate online poker. Surprisingly the process is extremely simple (and free). You only need 5 signatures and addresses from registered voters as well as the applicant. Considering I have friends that like poker, I should be able to complete this fairly easily. Hopefully the petition is accepted and put on the ballot. Wish me luck!
The Boy in the Mask - So Vivid - Was it More than just a Dream?
This was a dream that was very vivid and very real. A month later, and it's still disturbing to me. On an evening a few days before Thanksgiving 2019, my wife and I went to bed fairly early in hopes to get some much needed sleep before our 1 month old son wakes up for a bottle. I fell asleep fairly quickly. I dreamt that I was in dark grey night scene. It was a landscape similar Downtown Bangor Maine, against the waterfront and surrounding land, but there were no cars parked in the street, there might have been a few stray cars, but for the most part, none parked anywhere. I'm apparently walking home, although I don't know how I got downtown, and I was having difficulty finding out the bridge to Brewer. In the erie gray everything looked way too much alike. I walked a bit and realized that it was the wrong way. So, I circled around in place and chose another direction and walked a little then. Soon realizing that I still wasn't in the right direction. I circled again and chose a direction, and my scenery seemed to be making sense. I was relieved, it was a long walk home, but at least I was on my way. Just as quickly as I was relieved, I was nervous again. I was being followed. I looked around, I couldn't see anyone. Just as I began to relax, thinking it was nothing, a kid wearing black, with a gray mask over his face and a hoodie with the hood over his head walked beside then in front of me, in a weird motion, like a curling walk. I stopped walking. He tilted masked head, one way, then the other. He lifted his right fist up, the index finger, the only finger not locked in a fist. He lifted his other hand in the same way and used index finger to purposefully pointing at the index finger of his right. He curled backwards, a few steps, walked forward and disappeared somewhere behind me. Glad he was gone, I continued to try to find my home. That's when I realized, the bridge into Brewer didn't exist and that I was trapped in Bangor. I found myself disoriented in a parking lot. I couldn't figure out how, or which one it was. I thought, maybe the Wing Lot where I park my car when I go to work. But I could see Hollywood Slots, the casino in the close distance, so that didn't make sense. It was also weird, I noticed the parking lot I was in had a road going through it. Then it occurred to me that I was not in a parking lot, but smack in the middle of the road. It was like I was in a video game where the rest of the map hadn't been unlocked yet. This location inconsistency helped me realize it was a dream. And I was done with it. I told myself to wake up. It wasn't easy. As much as I tried to wake up, I couldn't. So, I figured since now that I knew it was a dream, I could gradually wake myself up, as I should be in a lucid dream state. I continued to walk around. The boy in the mask appears, just appears, no warning right in front of me. He has a pocket knife in his right hand, the short blade is exposed to the air. He signals the number one with his left index finger and then brings his hand closer to his chest, and cuts his index finger with the blade. Beads of blood ooze out, and fall into his shirt sleeve. He puts his bleeding finger to his masked mouth, "Shhh!" I can hear faintly. Fed up, I try to wake myself up, to no avail. I walk around again. Saying to myself, "This is a dream, I'm dreaming, wake up. I'm dreaming wake up!" It wasn't long before I masked kid appeared again. I attempted to walk away from him. He wouldn't let me pass. So, I decided to run away. He remained in front of me, refusing to let me through. We ended up face to face circling each other. All the while, I'm trying to wake up and try to get away from this creepy kid. No matter what I do, I can't escape. As we circle each other, he cuts his index finger, and then puts it to his mouth, when I hear the faint "Shh!" He does it all over again. "I'm done! This is fucked up. Wake up, Paul!" I demand to myself. No luck. The masked kid disappeared again. "Wake up, Paul!" I demand to myself again. No luck! Maybe if I avoid to acknowledge the presence of the masked kid, when I see him again. I thought. I continue to walk around, hoping I just wake up. The masked kid appears again. I don't acknowledge I see him, and just keep walking, all the while he remains directly in front of me. As much as I deny the fact that I don't see him, in actuality, I do and I can't ignore him. He seems to thrive on the fact that I can't ignore him. He proceeds to cut his index finger, as the blood rolls down his finger and into his sleeve, he puts the bloody finger to his masked lips, "Shh!" Again faintly, he mutters. I began to chant, "I need to wake up." As we circle each other as before. He repeatedly cuts his finger and then puts it to his face, "Shh!" He mutters quietly. We repeated this cycle several times. Suddenly, in the background, I hear a baby's whimper, it sounded a lot like my son Matthew. I knew it was. "I need to wake up!" I yell. The masked kid, puts his bloody finger to his mouth, shakes his head, "No!" And says "Shh!" In the typical fashion. We continue to circle. I continually tell myself to wake up. Meanwhile, my baby whimpers are getting louder in the background, and thru are beginning to sound like a cry. As we continue to circle, my wife, Katie, nudges me "Paul, Can you feed Matthew?" I finally woke up, I'm lying in bed. I can see my bedroom. "Yup." I reply, sleepily. Then I'm dragged back to the dream, circling again. "Matt needs me!" I say to the kid. He shakes his head, "No!" Katie nudges me, "Can you feed Matthew?" "Yup." I reply. I can see my bedroom again, I'm in bed. As I try to get out of bed. I find myself being pulled back into the dream. I resist with all that I can. I shook my head to wake up and force myself out of bed. I'm on my feet! In my bedroom. I touched the dresser next to me, to make sure. I am awake. I walk around our thm queen bed, to pick up Matthew who is crying in his bassinet. I'm so relieved I'm awake. I take him to the kitchen to get a bottle, heat it up and give it to him in the living room. This was the most vivid dream I've ever had. I haven't been able to get it out of my mind since. It was more like a nightmare. I could smell, touch. Walking in those circles was tiring. Was this nightmare more than just a nightmare?

Def Leppard will be back on stage in June after successfully completing the first round of their North American 2016 tour in May. The British rockers Def Leppard take a month-long break before rolling in to Xfinity Center in Boston on June 22 with openers REO Speedwagon and Tesla with a massive 2016 Summer Tour that takes then across the US all the way to October. “Thanks for a great show last nite and what a great way to close the 1st leg of our 2016 tour. See you back on stage on June 22 in Boston, MA.”, - said DF on their twitter. The legendary rock band were forced to postpone their US tour dates in February due to Joe Elliott’s vocal issues. Vocalist Joe Elliott was told by the doctor to refrain from singing for a month after losing voice as a result of walking pneumonia and hacking cough. Soon after postponing their much-anticipated winter live shows, Def Leppard rescheduled 2016 concert dates and invited REO Speedwagon to be their special guests along with Tesla. Unfortunately, dates in Atlantic City, San Antonio and Brooklyn, NY have been cancelled as a new date was not available consistent with the tour schedule, said the bands’ official web site. “For the over thirty six years Def Leppard’s concerts have been a must-see event, so whether you’re a causal fan or a diehard you will really have to check them out on their 2016 Summer Tour” – Robert Cavuoto from My Global Mind Webzine wrote in his review of the Def Leppard’ concert in Allentown.
